Don’t Speak Ill Of Sahabah

2. Shaykh Rabee’ حفظه الله: “Don’t say anything about the Sahaba unless you mention an excuse for them because of our love for them (eg the incident of Osama bin Zayd killing a man in the battle field who said Shahadah, he was very remorseful to the extent he said he wished he’d become Muslim that very day after the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم admonished him”

Acting Upon What We Learn

Not Acting Upon What We Preach
“O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do? Most hateful it is with Allâh that you say that which you do not do.”
(61:2-3)
The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“I saw during the night I was taken for the Night Journey men who lips were being cut by scissors of fire. I asked, “Who are these O Jibreel?”
He said: “These are the preachers from your Ummah who commanded the people with good but forgot themselves (didn’t act upon it), and they used to recite the Quraan, didn’t they take heed from it?”

From The Most Beneficial Ways To Be Saved From The Punishment Of The Grave

Ibn al Qayyim (Allaah have mercy upon him) said:

“From the most beneficial ways to be saved from the punishment of the grave, is that a person sits for the sake of Allaah for an hour when he intends to sleep, bringing oneself to account from what he has lost (from sins & not doing good deeds) and gained (from good deeds) in his day. Then he repents a new sincere repentance between him and Allaah and he sleeps upon this state of repentance, and he sleeps in this state determined never to return back to that sin if he was to wake up. And he does this every night, if he dies that night he dies upon Tawbah (true&sincere repentance) and if he wakes up he wakes up focused on doing good deeds, delighted that Allaah has delayed his appointed time of death and he asks Allaah to pardon him for his shortcomings and rectifies anything he missed out on from the previous day (from good deeds).
There is nothing more beneficial to the servant (of Allaah) than this type of repentance especially if he follows this with the remembrance of Allaah and implementation of the remembrances which are found in the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم before going to sleep. Whoever Allaah wants good for, He gives them the success (enlightenment) to do this.”
[Mentioned by our beloved teacher Hassan Somali حفظه الله ورعاه in Sharhus-Sunnah al Barbaharee lesson, chapter on the Punishment of the grave]

Summary of Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jaabiri’s retraction regarding his statement on Kaa’b Bin Maalik radhiallaahu ‘anhu.

Question:
You have mentioned in a lecture called ‘’Ithaaf al-Bashar bi-sharh hadeeth Hudayfah bin al-Yamaan inna kuna fi jahiliyyah wa shar.’ You said that Kaa’b Bin Maalik (radiallaahu ‘anhu) used to say: “By Allaah what will happen to me if I die while the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam is in that state (of boycotting me)?”
So you said, “He feared that he dies and the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam dies while Kaa’b is still boycotted because If he died in that state of being boycotted, he dies misguided and misguides except if Allaah pardons him, may Allaah be pleased with him. If the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam died then he (Kaa’b radiallaahu ‘anhu) would have been boycotted until he dies because the revelation would have stopped.”
There are those who say that in your speech is revilement of this honourable companion Kaa’b Bin Maalik radiallaahu ‘anhu because if he dies then he dies being boycotted and dies misguided and misguides and we know that you honour and respect the companions (may Allaah be pleased with them). We would like you to clarify this affair to refute the evil plots and plans of the connivers.

Shaykh Ubayd al-Jaabiri answers:
“I begin in the name of Allaah and praise Him and ask Allaah to raise the mention the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and protect him.
After which follows:
It is not surprising that speech is sought after with hatred, jealousy and sickness such that speech is given a meaning other than what is meant.
The just one refers the first part of the speech to the last part and the last part of the speech to its first part, that way a clear meaning is portrayed. That is in the first instance.
Secondly, with regards to the one who sees this as an error from me, then I say I don’t consider myself free from errors nor do I claim innocence from not erring nor do I claim to be infallible, nor is anyone after the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam infallible.

Infallibility is in the Book of Allaah and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam so whatever has come authentically reported from the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam whether speech or action then that is infallible along with the consensus of the Companions and any consensus that is affirmed after the Companions then it is accepted by the scholars and also it is infallible whether the proof is known or not. If this is understood, then I say yes I said this statement and it was open not in a personal sitting and I said it and it was from me regarding what Kaa’b bin Maalik (radiallaahu ‘anhu) said and he feared that he be misguided. SO WHEN AFTER A WHILE I PONDERED OVER THE STATEMENT OF MINE IT BECAME CLEAR TO ME THAT I GENERALIZED SO THE ERROR OCCURRED. SO I WISHED TO SAY AND I HAVE CORRECTED IT IN A TREATISE WHICH WILL BE WIDESPREAD AND PRINTED, ALLAAH WILLING, BY THE NAME OF ‘IMDAAD AHLI ATHAR BI SHARH HADEETH HUDAYFAH KUNA FI JAHILIYYAH WA SHAR.’

I have said in which the meaning is, that I have distinguished the two affairs. I said that Kaa’bradiallaahu ‘anhu feared that he dies upon misguidance this no doubt there is no disagreement between the scholars, he didn’t feel this except having fear of dying upon misguidance so it is obligatory to distinguish that if he died before the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam then this is in the knowledge of the unseen whether revelation would be revealed to the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam revealing his innocence or not. However, If the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam died then the revelation stops with his death so If the Messenger died while Kaa’b was boycotted then he would have been in that state there is no doubt in this is what must be understood and this is what I hold

The errors and slips of the Scholars
Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami
4/3/1433 – 25/2/2012

Sheikh Al-Islam Ibnu Taymiyyah rahimahullaah said:
“And whoever is known for being truthful in the Ummah such that he is praised amongst different people in the Ummah (young and old, far and near) then they are the scholars of guidance. They are those lanterns giving light amidst darkness and their mistakes are few compared to their correct positions. Most of their errors are from the affairs where ijtihaad (striving to make a ruling in matters of fiqh andbranches of the religion) is permitted. They are excused (for not intending to err where the error is rejected but honour of the scholar is upheld). They are the ones who follow knowledge and justice, far away from ignorance, oppression, conjecture and what the souls desire.” [Majmu’ al-Fataawa: 11/423].
Haafidh adh-Dhahabi rahimahullaah said: “indeed the elder from the scholars of knowledge, if in most cases he is correct and his striving in reaching the truth is known, his knowledge becomes vast, his intelligence becomes apparent, his righteousness and fear of Allaah and following (the sunnah) is known then his slip/error is forgiven. We do not consider him misguided and (end up) leaving him and forgetting his good. Yes: we do not follow him in his innovation and mistake, rather we hope for repentance from that.” [Seer 5/271]
Ibnul Qaiyyum rahimahullaah said: “Whoever has knowledge of the legislation and the reality is known without doubt that the honourable person who has clear signs of righteousness and is known for his status in Islam and amongst the people. If he has an error and slip (in matters of permitted ijtihaad), he is excused, rather rewarded and it is not allowed for him to be followed for that error. It is not allowed to remove his position and status as imam and level from the hearts of the Muslims.” [I’laam Al-Muwaqi’een (3/295)]
Sheikh ‘Ali Nasr Al-Faqeehi said:
“As for the mistaken one in some of the matters (of the religion), the one who is known for his manhaj (correct methodology), his praiseworthy manner and Islamic legislated knowledge, then his mistake does not remove his status nor reduce his rank. If he is alive, then it is a must to clarify to him the mistake in a wise manner that which is known between the scholars based upon cooperating in accordance with righteousness and piety because religion is advice.”
You put the advice to the student of knowledge based upon his status with good manners and respect showing the truth with its proof not in an aggressive manner and not arrogantly towering over the person haughtily. Rather with wisdom and beautiful preaching. This is what is sought from the advice. The unity is kept and love and brotherhood for the sake of Allaah remains for indeed the believers arebrothers.
If the mistaken one has returned to his Lord (passed away) then he is to be supplicated for as perfection is for the Prophets alone. The mistakes of other than the Prophets are clarified to the people so that the people don’t follow their mistakes in those matters. [Al-Bid’ah Dhawabidtuha wa Atharuha as-Sayi’fil Ummah p.24]

Introduction

All praise belongs to Allaah, may the peace and prayers of Allaah be upon the Messenger of Allaah, his Family, his Companions and all those who follow his way.

To Proceed:

Indeed the Khawarij are an evil people, inviters to Fitnah and a flag of separation. The affairs of the Muslims have never been in order and together except that the task of the Khawarij has been to tear this order apart and corrupt what has been rectified.

The presence of the Khawarij has been continuous since they first appeared. There has never been a period of time that has seen their absence until such time as the last of the Khawarij will rebel along with the Dajjal.

There are many recurring ahadeeth from the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– warning against them and clarifying their characteristics and Allaah’s ruling regarding them. This is why the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – fought against them, as did the rulers who came after them, throughout all periods of Islamic history.
Even Ameer ul-Mumineen ‘Uthmaan bin Affan was not saved from their attacks and evil plots, neither was Ameer ul-Mumineen ‘Alee bin Abee Taalib nor was Ameer ul-Mumineen Muawiyyah bin Abee Sufyaan – RadhiAllaahu anhum ajmaeen. The Khalifah Umar bin Abdul Azeez –Rahimullaah– was not saved from them, they rebelled against him…… so in reality they are the enemies of the people of Islaam and they are not pleased with any one of the Muslims ruling, no matter how good he is.

Even the Messenger of Allaah – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – was not saved from their attacks, to the extent that their leader Dhul-Khawaysira said to him: ‘Be just O Muhammad’ whereby he attacked the character of Allaah’s Messenger – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam.

The Khawarij in every time and place have a similarity in resemblance, so their hearts, their tongues and their actions are similar.

This booklet, which I have extracted from the biography of the Imaam Wahab ibn Munabih -Rahimullaah, clearly explains their description as, in that time, the Khawarij exhibited the issues for which they have become well-known:

a) Their view of the impermissibility of paying Zakat to the rulers of the Muslims; this was due to their declaration ofTakfeer on the Muslim ruler and their claim that the Muslim rulers did not spend the Zakat in its proper place.

b) Their not seeking forgiveness for the one who does not hold their views because they hold such a person to be a disbeliever in Allaah The Great.

So those affected by these false claims were those who had little knowledge such that they were deceived by theZuhud (abstention from loving worldly things), worship and severity in Deen of the Khawarij.

From amongst those affected by the Khawarij was an elderly and wealthy man from the people of Yemen, but when Allaah Ta’ala intended good for him, He led him to the Imaam Wahab ibn Munabih –Rahimullaah. Imaam Wahab informed this man of their condition and warned him about their corrupt ideas and their danger to a man’s religious and worldly affairs. He did all this in a clear way, supported by evidences, which are easily understood by those of sound comprehension.

If you reflect upon what the Khawarij used to propagate during that period and also at this time, the saying of AllaahTa’ala springs to mind:
تَشَابَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ
<< Their hearts are alike; We have indeed made plain the signs for people who believe with certainty >> [al-Baqarah:118]
The Biography of the Imam Wahab ibn Munabih

He is: Wahab ibn Munabih bin Kaamil bin Seej bin Dhi Kibaar Abu Abdullaah al-Yamaani as-Sanaani. His father came toYemen from Khurasaan from Haraat.

Wahab was born in the year 34 A.H. during the Khilafah of ‘Uthmaan bin ‘Affaan – radiAllaahu anhu.

Wahab narrated on the authority of a group of the Companions, including Anas bin Maalik, Jaabir bin Abdullaah, Abdullaah bin ‘Abbas, Abdullaah ibn Umar, Abu Huraira and Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri.

He also narrated on the authority of: Tawoos bin Kaysaan, ‘Amroo bin Dinaar, ‘Amroo bin Shuaib, his own brother Hamaam bin Munabih and others.

Imaam Ahmad said: ‘He was from the children of Persia.’ Then he said: ‘Everyone from the people of Yemen who had the word ‘Dhi’ in his name was from the Shareef (from Bani Hashim), it is said: so-and-so has ‘Dhi’, and so and so has no ‘Dhi’.’[2]

Al-Ijaali said: He was a Tabi’ee (a successor of the Companions), trustworthy and he used to be a judge in Sana’.[3]
Abu Zurah, an-Nisaee and others regarded him as trustworthy.

He was a judge for Umar bin AbdulAzeez –Rahimullaah- in Sana’[4] and his hadeeth are to be found in Bukhari and Muslim. He had much knowledge of the People of the Book and he is counted as being from amongst the Zuhaad (those who abstain from loving worldly things) and the people of piety who would worship plentifully.

He died in the year 110 A.H. in Sana’ at the beginning of the Khilafah of Hisham bin Abdul Malik. It has been said that he died in the year 114 A.H. and Yaqoot deems this to be the stronger opinion in ‘Mu’ajam al-Udaba’.[5]

Advice to the Khawaarij

‘Alee bin al-Madinee said: Hisham bin Yusuf as-Sanaani Abu AbdurRahmaan the Qaadi of Sana’ narrated to us, that he said I was told by Daawood bin Qays that he said:

I had a friend from the house of Kholaan from the city of Hadoor, who was called Abu Shaamir Dhu-Kholaan.

I left Sana’ heading towards his village, as I came closer to his village I found a book which had stamped on its back: To Abu Shaamir Dhu-Kholaan.

When I reached him, I found him disturbed and saddened, so I asked him why, he said: A messenger came from Sana’ and mentioned that some friends of mine wrote a book and sent it to me and the messenger lost it. So I sent one of my slaves with him to search for it between my village and Sana’ and they did not find it, so I was concerned about it.

I said: Here is the book, I have just found it.

He said: ‘Praise be to Allaah who has made you find it.’ He opened it and began to read.

I said: Read it to me.

He said: Indeed I am younger than you in age.

I said: What is it?

He said: It is about striking necks.

I said: Perhaps those who wrote it are the people of al-Haroora who wrote regarding the Zakat (obligatory charity) of the ruler?

He said: From where do you know them?

I said: I and my friends sit with Wahab bin Munabih and he tells us: ‘Keep away from these gullible youth, these people of al-Haroora. You should take the opinion that opposes them, because they are the shameful ones of this Ummah.’

He pushed the book towards me, so I read and found it said:

Bismillah ar-Rahmanir – Raheem

To Abu Shaamir Dhu-Kholaan

Peace be upon you.

Indeed, we praise Allaah before you. There is no God except Him and we advise you with Taqwa of Allaah Alone, Who has no partner. Indeed the Deen of Allaah is guidance and the correct path in this world and it is salvation and success in the Hereafter. Indeed the Deen of Allaah is obedience to Allaah and it is opposition of that which goes against HisSharia’ and the Sunnah of His Prophet. So if this book of ours reaches you – if Allaah wills – then see to it that you give Allaah His right in what He has obligated upon you (Zakat). Give it to those who deserve the rule of Allaah and the rule of His ‘Aawliyaa (His close friends).

And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allaah.

Then I said to him: Indeed, I warn you against them.

He said: How can I follow what you say and leave the saying of the one who is older than you are?

I said: Would you like me to take you to Wahaab bin Munabih, so that you can listen to what he has to say and he will tell you about them.

He said: Yes.

So I went to Sana’ and he came with me, then we proceeded until I took him to see Wahab bin Munabih. Masood bin ‘Auf was the ruler over Yemen appointed by Urwa bin Muhammad. ‘Alee bin al-Madini said: he is Urwa bin Muhammad bin ‘Ateeyah as-Saadi and he was preceded by Saad bin Bakr bin Hoowazin.

We found a group of people who usually attended his gatherings, sitting with Wahab and some of them said to me: ‘Who is this Shaykh?’ I said: this is Abu Shaamir Dhu-Kholaan from the people of Hadoor and he has need of Abu Abdullaah.

They said: why don’t you mention it?

I said: Indeed, he wants to consult him regarding a private matter.

So the people left.

Wahab said: ‘What is your need O Dhu-Kholaan?’

Dhu-Kholaan began to speak but he mixed up his words and became scared to speak.

Wahaab said to me: ‘Speak on behalf of your Shaykh.’

So I said: Yes O Abu Abdullaah, verily Dhu-Kholaan is from the people of the Qur’aan and the people of righteousness, from what we know and Allaah is more knowledgeable about his personal affairs. He has informed me, that he came across a group of people from Sana’ who are from the people of Haroora and that they said to him: The Zakat that you give to the rulers is not compensated by Allaah as reward for you because the rulers do not spend it in its rightful place. So, you should give it to us, verily we will spend it in its rightful place – we will divide it amongst the poor Muslims and we will implement the Islamic punishments.

I thought that your speech O Abu Abdullaah would be more satisfactory to him than mine. He has mentioned to me that he gives them the harvests of one hundred Firqan (a quantity) on his riding animals and he sends it with his slave.

So, Wahab said to him: O Dhu-Kholaan do you wish to become a Harooreey now you have become old and ascribe misguidance to one who is better than you? What will you say to Allaah tomorrow when you stand in front of Him?

The one you testify against, Allaah testifies that he has Emaan while you testify that he has committed kufr. Allaah testifies that he is guided while you testify that he is misguided? So where will you be if your opinion is opposed by the command of Allaah and your testification is opposed by the testification of Allaah.
Tell me O Dhu-Kholaan what do they say to you?

So Dhu-Kholaan then spoke and he said to Wahab: They order me not to give Sadaqa (charity) except to those who hold their opinion and not to seek forgiveness except for them.

Wahab said: you have spoken the truth, this is their false love.

As for their statement about charity then indeed it has reached me that the Messenger of Allaah – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – mentioned a woman from the people of Yemen who entered the Fire due to her keeping a cat tied up, she neither fed it nor set it free to eat from the insects of the land.[6] So, is a person who worships Allaah, says that Allaah is Alone and does not associate anything with Him, more beloved to Allaah and worthier of being fed due to hunger or a cat?
And Allaah says in His Book:
وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِيناً وَيَتِيماً وَأَسِيراً إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلَا شُكُوراً إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْماً عَبُوساً قَمْطَرِيراً
<< And they give food, in spite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (Saying): ‘We feed you seeking Allaah’s Face only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. Verily, we fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme aversion to it).’ >> [al-Insaan: 8-10]
He also mentions a difficult and angry day for the sinners due to Allaah’s wrath upon them.
<< So Allaah saved them from the evil of that Day and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. And their recompense shall be Paradise and silken garments, because they were patient. Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. And amongst them will be passed around vessels of silver and cups of crystal, Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabîl (ginger, etc.). A spring there, called Salsabîl. And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined) and a great dominion. Their garments will be of fine green silk and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (And it will be said to them): ‘Verily, this is a reward for you and your endeavour has been accepted.’>> [al-Insaan: 11-22]
Then Wahab said: Allaah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala continuously describes what He has prepared for them of the blessings ofParadise.

Then he said: As for their saying: ‘Forgiveness is not to be sought except for the one who holds their opinion.’ Are they better than the Angels?

And Allaah Ta’ala says in the Soorah of <<Ha-Mim, Ayeen, Seen, Qaaf>>:

وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ

<< The angels glorify the praises of their Lord and ask for forgiveness for those on the earth>> [Shuraa’: 5]
And I swear by Allaah that the Angels could not do this by themselves nor could they do this unless they were ordered because Allaah Ta’ala said:
لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُ بِالْقَوْلِ وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِ يَعْمَلُونَ
<<They speak not until He has spoken and they act on His Command>>
[Al-Anbiyya: 27]
Allaah has affirmed this Ayaat in Soorah << Ha mim…. >>[Shuraa’]
and it is explained in the major Soorah << Ha mim >>[Ghafir] where He said:

الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ الْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
<<Those (angels) who bear the Throne (of Allaah) and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who believe>> [Ghafir: 7]

Do you not see O Dhu-Kholaan that I lived at the beginning times of Islaam and I swear by Allaah that the Khawarij did not have a group except that Allaah divided them because of their evil condition. Not one of the Khawarij came out with this opinion except that Allaah struck his neck and none of the Ummah ever gathered together under one man of the Khawarij.

If Allaah had given the Khawarij strength in their opinion, the world would have become corrupt and the highways would have been cut off, Hajj to the House of Allaah the Haraam would have stopped and the matter of Islaam would have returned to Jahileeyah, so much so that the people would seek help from mountain peaks as they used to in Jahileeyah.

Then there would stand more than ten or twenty men and there would not be a single one from amongst them except that he would call for Khilaafah for himself. With every one of these men there would be more than 10,000 people fighting each other, each group would testify to the disbelief of the other group until a believing man would become fearful for his self, his religion, his blood, his family and his wealth, he would not know which way to go, nor would he know whom he should be with.

However, Allaah has decided for this Ummah with His command, knowledge and mercy and He makes the best decision for them. He united them and placed love in their hearts for one man who was not from the Khawarij.

So Allaah protected their blood through him, covered up their and their offspring’s shortcomings and gathered all their different factions together through this one man. He made their highways safe and fought the enemy through this man even if it was only for the sake of the Muslims’ honour. He established the Islaamic punishments by way of him, justly judged the oppressed and strove against the oppressors. This man was a mercy from Allaah and he had mercy upon them due to the Mercy of Allaah.

Allaah Ta’ala said in His Book:
وَلَوْلاَ دَفْعُ اللّهِ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ لَّفَسَدَتِ الأَرْضُ وَلَـكِنَّ اللّهَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

<< And if Allaah did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allaah is full of Bounty to all that exists >> [Baqarah: 251]
<<And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allaah and be not divided among yourselves. And remember Allaah’s Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together so that, by His Grace, you became brethren and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire and He saved you from it. Thus Allaah makes His Ayaat clear to you, that you may be guided. >> [al-Imraan:103]
And Allaah Ta’ala said:

إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْأَشْهَادُ

<<Verily, We will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe in this world’s life and on the Day when the witnesses will stand forth, (i.e. Day of Resurrection)>>
[Ghafir: 51]

So where do they stand from the point of view of these Ayaat? If they were believers they would have been made victorious.
And He Ta’ala said:
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنصُورُونَ وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ
<<And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, that they verily would be made triumphant and that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. >>
[Saffat 171-173]
So if they were the soldiers of Allaah they would have had victory in Islaam even if it was just once.
Allaah Ta’ala said:
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ رُسُلاً إِلَى قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَاؤُوهُم بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا وَكَانَ حَقّاً عَلَيْنَا نَصْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
<<And indeed We did send Messengers before you to their own people. They came to them with clear proofs, then We took vengeance on those who committed crimes (disbelief, setting partners in worship with Allaah, sins, etc.) and (as for) the believers it was incumbent upon Us to help (them). >>
[Room :47]
So if they were believers they would have been made victorious.

Allaah Ta’ala said:

<<Allaah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous good deeds that He will certainly grant them succession in the earth as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them. And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after fear, provided they worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. >>
[Noor: 55]

So where do they stand in this regard? Are any one of them better informed about the Islaam from the days of Umar bin al-Khattab, when they are without a Khalifah or Jamaah and are without insight?

Allaah Ta’ala said:

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَى وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ

<<It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to make it superior over all religions >>
[ Taubah: 33]
I testify that Allaah has fulfilled what He had promised the ahl-us-Sunnah giving them aid, strength and victory over their enemies and those who oppose the opinion of their Jamaah.
Wahab said: Has not what sufficed Ahl-ul-Tawheed, Ahl-ul-Qibla and the people who have accepted the rulings of Islaam – the Sunnan practices and obligations of Islaam – sufficed you O Dhu-Kholaan? that which sufficed the Prophet of Allaah Nuh in response to the idol-worshippers and Kuffar, when his people said to him:
قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَى رَبِّي لَوْ تَشْعُرُون
<<They said: “Shall we believe in you, when the meanest (of the people) follow you?” He said: “And what knowledge have I of what they used to do?” Their account is only with my Lord, if you could (but) know. >>
[Shu’araa 111-113]
Are you not satisfied with what sufficed Allaah’s Prophet and friend Ibraheem in replying to the worshippers of idols, when he said:
<<And (remember) when Ibraheem said: “O my Lord! Make this city (Makkah) one of peace and security, and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. O my Lord! They have indeed led astray many among mankind. But whoso follows me, he verily is of me and whoso disobeys me, – still You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” >>
[Ibraheem :35 -36]
Does not what sufficed Prophet Isa’ with the Kuffar – who took him as a god other than Allaah – suffice you O Dhu-Kholaan? Verily Allaah is pleased, until the Day of Judgement, with the sayings of Nuh, Ibraheem and Isa’ which the believers and those who come after them follow, by which I mean:
إِن تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِن تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

<< “If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily You, only You are The All¬-Mighty, The All-¬Wise.” >>
[Maida: 118]
They (the believers) do not oppose the sayings of the Prophets of Allaah with their opinion, so whom will you follow, if you do not follow the Book of Allaah and the sayings and opinions of His Prophets?

Know, that your coming to see me is mercy for you if you have heard my speech and have accepted my advice to you. This is evidence against you tomorrow, when you meet Allaah, if you leave the Book of Allaah and return to the opinion of the Huroora.

Dhu-Kholaan said: So what do you command me to do?

Wahab said: As for your obligatory Zakat, then give it to the one whom Allaah has placed as a ruler over the affairs of this Ummah, and has gathered the people with him.
This is because the Dominion, indeed, is from Allaah Alone and it is in His Hand, He gives it to whom He wills and He takes it away from whom He wills. So he to whom Allaah gives rulership, none has the ability to take it away from him. So if you give your obligatory Zakat to the ruler then you have become free of it and if you have any extra then be good and give it to your relatives, those under your authority and your neighbours, from those who are needy, and be hospitable to the one who receives you as a guest.

Dhu-Kholaan stood up and said: I testify that I have relieved myself of the opinion of the Hurooreeyah and have believed in what you said.

Dhu-Kholaan died not very long after that.

All Praise belongs to Allaah, may His peace
and blessings be upon our final
Prophet Muhammad, his
family, his companions
and all those who
follow his
guidance.

Starting the call with Tawheed by Sheikh Muhammad al-‘Aqeel
Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami

“To begin the call with laa ilaaha illallaah (none has the right the right to be worshipped except Allaah) is the way of the prophets and our Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. It is the true meaning of Tawheed (Islamic monotheism) which the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam came with. In Saheeh al-Bukhaaree under the chapter kitaabu Tawheed, Imam Bukhaaree mentions a chapter concerning what the call of the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam was, then he mentions the hadeeth of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas regarding the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam sending Mu’aadh ibn Jabal to Yemen such that he said “O Mu’aadh you are going to the people of the Book so let the first thing you call them to testify to is laa ilaaha illallaah (that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah)…” in another narration he said, “…let the first thing you call them to is to single Allaah out in worship.” In a third narration he said to Mu’aadh “…let the first thing you call them to is to worship Allaah so when they accept that from you then let them know that Allaah has obligated upon them to pray five times a day…” So Ibn Abi Zaid al-Qirwaaniy followed the example of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam such that he began his treatise with the call to perfecting one’s belief in ‘laa ilaaha Illalaah’ which is the yolk, the objective and the main call of the Prophets as Allaah said:

We have indeed sent to every nation a Messenger calling them to worship Allaah and keep away from the false deities.”

And His saying:

“We did not send before you a Messenger except revealing to them that there is none worthy of worship except Me so worship Me (alone)”

To begin this call affirming that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah is the call of the Prophets and this is why the author began his book with this. This is what is obligatory on all of us that we begin our learning, teaching and call, ordering and forbidding with what the Prophet  began with. Also, the first order in the Qur’an began with this call to ‘laa ilaaha Illallaah’ in His saying:

“O people worship your Lord who created you and those before you that you may gain piety.” [soorah al-Baqarah: 21]

The call to ‘laa ilaaha Illallaah’ also necessitate forbidding shirk (associating partners with Allaah) and this is found in the same Verse above being also the first forbiddance in the Qur’an:

“So do not set up for Allaah partners while you know (the truth regards ‘laa ilaaha Illalaah’).” [Soorah al-Baqarah:21]

So Ibn Abi Zaid is in agreement to the Prophet in his beginning his call with ‘laa ilaaha Illallaah’ not as some of the people of rhetoric who say the first thing we should call to is to reflect on who is the creator from the statements of the philosophers being outside from the Book and the Sunnah.” [Sheikh Muhammad al-‘Aqeel’s explanation of Muqadimatul Qirwaniyyah].

The Major Sin – Forty-Nine

Allaah Ta’ala said:

<<… but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allaah does not like the transgressors. >>
[al-Baqarah: 190]

Allaah Ta’ala said:

<< And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in clear misguidance. >> [Ahzaab: 36]

316– The Prophet –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– said: “Whoever says to his Muslim brother, O Kafir (disbeliever)!’ Then verily it returns to one of them.”[1]

There are many narrations which describe the Khawaarij, and the people differed in performing Takfeer (taking people out of the fold of Islaam) upon them, since the Prophet –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– said about them: “they will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, where-ever you find them, kill them.”[2]

318 – The Prophet –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam– said about them: “They are the most evil of those killed under the sky, and the best person killed is the one who is killed by them.”[3]

So the Khawaarij are the people of Bida’, they make it Halaal to take the blood of people, and they perform Takfeer. They performed Takfeer upon ‘Uthmaan and ‘Alee and of a group from the pre-eminent Companions- may Allaah be pleased with all of them.

319– Ishaaq al-Azzraq, on the authority of al-‘Amash, on the authority of Ibn Abu ‘Awfaa – radiAllaah anhu– who said:

I heard the Messenger of Allaah – SallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – say: The Khawaarij are the dogs of the Hell-fire.[4]

320– Hashraj bin Nubaatata, said Sa’eed bin Jumhaan narrated to me that he said: I entered upon Ibn Abu ‘Awfaa and he was blind, and he said: who are you?
I said: Sa’eed bin Jumhaan.

He said: What happened to your father?

I said: The al-Azzariqa (who are a sect from the Khawaarij) killed him.

He said: May Allaah kill the al-Azzariqa! Then he said: The Messenger of Allaah – SallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – narrated to us that they are the dogs of the hell fire.

I asked: only the al-Azzariqa?

He said: All the Khawaarij.[5]

321– Hammad bin Salama said: Abu Hafs narrated to us, that he heard Abdullah bin Abu ‘Awfaa say while they were fighting the Khawaarij: I heard the Messenger of Allaah –sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- say: “Tooba (a tree in paradise) for the one who kills them and is killed by them.”[6]

All Praise belongs to Allaah, may His peace and blessings be upon our final Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions and all those who follow his guidance.

Suicide Bombings are forbidden
By Sheikh Saalih Ibn Fawzan Al-Fawzan
Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami

Sheikh Saalih Ibn Fawzan Al-Fawzan explains, “Allaah says in the Qur’an “And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely Allaah is Most Merciful to you. And whosoever does that out of aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into the Fire, and that is easy for Allaah.“[Soorah an-Nisaa: 29/30]…

So it is not allowed for a person to kill himself, rather one should protect himself with the utmost protection…As for purposely killing himself by suicide operations then this is not allowed. In the time of the Messenger P, in one of the battles, there was a brave man who was (supposedly) fighting for the sake of Allaah with the Messenger P. He was killed and the people praised him saying: “none of us fought courageously like him.” So the Prophet P said: “he is in the hellfire.” Someone had followed him and saw that after he was injured at the end, he placed the handle of his sword on the ground and raised its head upright then he put himself over it until it entered his chest and came out from his back and he died. This companion (who saw him) said the Messenger P spoke the truth. [Bukhaaree no. 3062, Muslim no.111]. So they knew that the Messenger P never spoke of his own accord. Why did he (the man) enter the hellfire with this action? Because he purposely killed himself and was not patient so it is not allowed for a person to kill himself.”

Sheikh Muhammad Abdulwahhab al Banna (rahimahullaah)
regarding the Muslim leaders
Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami

All praise is due to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds, what is before you is a sitting of questions and answers with one of the eldest scholars alive today, Sheikh Muhammad Abdulwahhab al Banna hafidahullaah. This sitting was on Sunday night 17th Shawal 1422, 30th December 2001 in his house.
Question

Some say that the ahadeeth pertaining to obedience to the rulers are not to be applied since they pertain to the ameer al Mumineen and now we have many leaders?

Answer

The foundation of the issue is that the leader should only be one but Allaah and His Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi sallam both mentioned that the Muslims will have many leaders in different lands as Allaah says “And if two groups of believers fight each other then seek rectification between them.” This shows that there is more than one group of Muslims (with different leaders) and also the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi sallam said, “there will be after me leaders not taking my guidance as guidance and not following my sunnah…” The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi sallam himself here mentioned leaders (plural – umaraa instead of ameer) and on top of that he told us to obey them unless they ordered us to disobey Allaah. Similarly, he forbade us from revolting against them. That we do not kill them and try to ambush them. We do not defame them as many people do today even with the best of the leaders that are present. The best of them today without a doubt are the leaders in Saudi Arabia, they are even better than the general public These people establish Tawheed, establish the main aspects of the religion and they help in that regard, so this is transgression and sinfulness that has nothing beyond it in justice . What do these people want? Do they want this country to turn like Egypt, Jordan, Syria or something like Bahrain. Some people say that the country does not allow women to have freedom. What do they want? Do they want women to go out into the streets (meaning not dressed properly such that they are harmed).

THE SCHOLARS OF AHLU SUNNAH TODAY
by
Shaikh Ubayd al-Jabiree
Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami

Oh Muslims, do not be like those who have no need of the scholars. Those scholars who are known to the general and specific ones like the Imām Shaikh ’Abdul-’Azīz Bin Bāz, and like the Imām Shaikh Muhammad ibn Sālih al-’Uthaimīn and like the Imām Shaikh al-Albāni and their brothers who are upon the truth after them in our judgment and Allāh is their Reckoner. At the head of them, the Muftee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Shaikh ’Abdul-’Azīz ibn ’Abdillāh ālush-Shaikh and the honourable Shaikh Sālih al-Luhaydān and the honourable Shaikh Sālih al-Fawzān and the honourable Shaikh ’Abdullāh ibn al-Ghudayān and their brothers who are with them upon the Sunnah. We do not praise them above Allāh’s praise and Allāh is their Reckoner.

Question to Sheikh Ahmed Najmi on Boycotting
taken from Sahab.net 1 rabee’1 1427 5 April 2006-04-05
Translated and compiled by Abdulilah Lahmami

Sheikh Ahmed Najmi may Allaah protect him was asked today after the Maghrib prayer (Saudi time) may Allaah protect it (Saudi) from the plots and plans of the people of corruption and the Khawaarij,

Question:

Is it from the Salafi methodology that if a Salafi brother makes a mistake then he is to be warned against and is boycotted without advising him? So what is your advice, may Allaah bless you?

The Sheikh answered:

It is a must to give advice if one of the Salafees makes a mistake, he is advised and is reminded of this mistake so if he is stubborn upon his mistake after the advice is repeated to him then after that he is warned against.
This is exactly what Sheikh Muhammad Abdulwahhab al-Banna said many years ago when I asked that some brothers are calling for the boycott of another Salafi due to the later having errors: He said Is this how we are? Rather advise the one who has erred and try to help him keep away from his mistakes and do not leave him unless you see that he turns away from the advice showing pride and arrogance.

And Sheikh Ubaid ibn Abdillah al-Jaabiree similarly says in a tape in differentiation between the treatment of Ahlu sunnah and Ahlu Bid’ah. Once he said and due to the lack of understanding of some who have not understood the affairs in this due to their lack of knowledge and not taking knowledge from the scholars is that if you try and help the one erred with advice you are accused of having compromised the fundamentals of this religion! And he said many times even if a scholar makes a mistake then we refute the mistake but the honour of the scholar is kept, likewise the honour of Ahlu Sunnah is kept and the mistake is refuted. As for Ahlu Bid’ah then there is no honour for them. However, there maybe times when ones has to use wisdom depending upon whether Ahlu Sunnah have strength or are the few etc.

Then he said there is a difference between compromising ones fundamentals and upholding advice seeking guidance for the people which is the way of the people of knowledge.

And likewise Sheikh Rabee’s persistence in calling the people to unite upon truth and to not rush to boycott one’s brothers without explaining to them the truth.

I remember when a brother complained to the Sheikh that a brother named Muhammad accuses him of not being Salafi and it just so happened that the accuser was in the lesson that week on a Friday so the Sheikh called him and said what is your proof that he is not Salafi? The brother said that the accused doesn’t say Sheikh Bakr Abu Zaid is not Salafi!! So Sheikh Rabee’ said I don’t say he is not Salafi!! Then Sheikh Rabee’ said to him you are sick.

Allaah is Al-Raqeeb, He sees everything and will call us to account for what we say and do, for there is no veil between the du’a of the oppressed and Allaah. And how many have oppressed others and eventually reap the fruits of their actions.

There is a difference also between Hajr Wiqaaee (guarding yourself from someone whom you don’t want to be around fearing you may fall into sin) and between making a campaign telling others to boycott someone based upon your personal differences with them.

Ibn Hajr mentions this in Nukhbatu Fikr and Sheikh ibn ‘Uthaimeen rahimahullaah has a beautiful explanation of it mashaallaah.

Sheikh Muhammad ibn Haadi states that from the reasons of deviation is (tape):

“‘being amazed with oneself and infringing one’s opinions upon others. So you see the students of knowledge falling into this calamity and the devil comes to him beautifying for him the entrance to this (path). That Allaah has blessed him with knowledge and understanding so he is able to look, see, derive and weigh between the statements of the scholars.

In that time, you see him beginning upon this methodology while the scholars are around him, the heads of this blessed call to Salafiyyah are alive and are blessed, but he relies upon himself in certain subjects which he differs with what the pious predecessors were upon. (For this person), you fear a lot since he infringes upon others his opinions and is amazed with himself.

As Aisha May Allaah be pleased with her said to Abi Salamata bin Abdulrahman

A chicken who heard a rooster scream

So he wanted to scream along with it.

He wanted to put himself in the midst of the scholars of guidance, the heads of the scholars of the Sunnah so he fell and tumbled backwards upon his heels. We ask Allaah for His protection and salvation.

This door (by which people deviate) is dangerous and many have fallen into deviation due to it. Those whom we know had entered this door so beware, beware from that and know that the scholars of the Sunnah will not tell you except what they have known from the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger r and what they have experienced in reality from their practical life which they reached in authority and in striving against the people of desires and innovation. They have mentioned to you the outcome, so beware that you oppose them in this, for opposing them will just bring to you evil, and we seek refuge in Allaah from that.

By Allaah, they are considered to be the most pious and most obedient to the legislation of the Messenger r and they are most fearing for the Nation of Muhammad r.” [End of translated text from the tape “Reasons why people deviate”]

Fear Allaah concerning Ahlu Sunnah – INTERNET OPPRESSION

By Sheikh Dr. Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaimi

Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami

About twenty eight years ago two groups of students differed with one another. The extremity of the situation resulted in argumentation such that they did not seek the truth but rather only to please their own desires. They accused one another of falling into sins. The matter of disagreement was regarding whether one places his hands on the ground before his knees while going down for prostration in the prayer. They charged one another of lying against the Messenger sallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. They claimed that these ones do no want the Sunnah. They fought each other until they threw chairs at one another.

This is from the deceptions of Iblees and whoever occupies himself with pleasing their desires then they end up being misguided…

These affairs should be taken back to those firm in knowledge… let us consider Imam Ahmed and Imam Shaf’ee rahimahumaallaah. They differed with regard whether one has to make ablution after eating camel’s meat. Imam Shaf’ee says that if one is upon ablution then eats camel’s meat and prays then their prayer is correct, while Imam Ahmed says one’s prayer is nullified. However, both of these Imams pray behind each other without mentioning this difference…

Beware my brothers from some of the problems present on the internet. To the extent that one of these (troublemakers) tried to ascertain what his brother’s saying meant by given it a meaning other than the intended one, thereby being futile…

Another one has accused his brother of being an evil person and a Rafidi (an extreme group amongst the Shi’ah sect). The youths accusing others of being sinners, innovators and disbelievers. It maybe a result of a misunderstanding.

As the poet said,

And how many speak against a correct statement And his shortcoming is due to his own wrong understanding

By Allaah, we advised them concerning their argumentation and accusingly ascertaining a false meaning to what others say. This has led others who are weak in faith to accept it.

May Allaah have mercy on Imam Ibn Baz rahimahullaah, when he advised the callers to Allaah in general, some people said that he was referring to the callers in Madinah specifically and to such and such person. Thus, falsely accusing others. So he rahimahullaah replied, “Those who delve in murky waters are the ones who say I am referring to such and such person…”

Allaah said, “Do not go into that which you have no knowledge, indeed the hearing, the sight, the heart, all of it, he will be questioned about.”

We should keep away from accusingly ascertaining a false meaning to what others say…

…I say this to the students of knowledge, Fear Allaah concerning yourself (raising his voice), Fear Allaah concerning your brothers, Fear Allaah with what you put in your tapes falsely accusing and ascertaining a corrupt meaning to what others say.

Fear Allaah concerning the internet websites that are used for falsely accusing and ascertaining a false meaning to what others say.

Very little shame and much distortion in what your brothers say concerning those things that are not meant. By Allaah you will be questioned, by Allaah on a Day when neither wealth nor children will benefit you except the one who came to Allaah with a pure heart. By Allaah you will be questioned.

Someone wrote in that website, the one whose owners don’t have fear of Allaah in reviling the students of knowledge with different types of insults and they even placed a student of knowledge and scholars to be a reference point for the website but I say this with much sorrow.

I heard this tape from the website of someone, may Allaah forgive him, he specified twenty minutes talking against me with very dangerous slanders and he attributed to me and others what is befitting for hypocrites and disbelievers. He said so and so he has such and such and he followed other than the path of the believers…he fell into hypocrisy and disbelief and he differed from the scholars and he went here and there, by Allaah, if you heard those characteristics then they are not attributed except to the disbelievers and hypocrites. I don’t say this to defend myself, but he was not only specifying me with these slanders, only, but also other students of knowledge and scholars…

I say to him two things: the first of them being that I will not use against him more than the arrows at night for I will not forget in the last third part of the night the supplication against him and those that aid him, Allaah willing.

Secondly, I say to him: say what you say because in front of Allaah the disputers will gather and those that oppressed others will know which place they will end up in.

I say this, my brothers, for the sake of Allaah such that a Muslim is aware that Allaah is watching him, thus being afraid of Allaah in that which he says and writes. That he is accountable concerning every statement he utters for indeed a man says something without realising where it will reach until he falls into the hellfire a distance of 70 years.

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam while holding his own tongue said to Mu’adh ibn Jabal (may Allaah be pleased with him), “withhold this!” So Mu’adh said, “will we be accountable concerning what we say?” The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “May you be put back in your mothers womb and born again, for the people will be thrown into the hellfire upon their faces or noses on account of what their tongues used to say.”

The great calamity is that this enmity is happening between people who ascribe to this methodology and this one way, except that satan has caused enmity between them. It maybe satan found those who delve into murky waters just as Ibn Baz rahimahullaah said.

If a person makes a mistake, do you take him out of salafiyyah and from the methodology of Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah based upon your own specific opinion. Who is the one to clarify these affairs, they are the scholars who cultivate people to the truth, those who speak truthfully and are just upon it not Bakr or Zayd like us young ones.

So FEAR ALLAAH wherever you are (Raising his voice). So FEAR ALLAAH wherever you are. So FEAR ALLAAH wherever you are.

Fear Allaah concerning your brothers from Ahlu Sunnah, Be kind, loving and gentle with Ahlu Sunnah! Be kind, loving and gentle with Ahlu Sunnah! Be kind, loving and gentle with Ahlu Sunnah! Just as our Sheikh AbdulMuhsin al ‘Abbad said. I advise myself and you with the fear of Allaah in secret and in open.

Allaah said, “And indeed We have created man, and We know what his own self whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular veins (by Our knowledge). (Remember) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).” [Soorah Qaf: 16-18]

I ask Allaah for myself and you that we gain beneficial knowledge and good, correct actions for He is the One able to decree it and we say the supplication which Jibraeel taught the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam to say:

“O Allaah, the Lord of Jibraeel, Mikaeel and Israfeel, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and Bearer of witness. You are the One who judges between your servants in that which they differ, guide me with truth in those things that there is difference with your permission. Indeed you guide whom you will to the straight path.”

The hadeeth has is Hasan, see Sunan Abi Dawood (767), Sunan Ibn Maajah (1357), Sunan Tirmidhee (3420).

For those who don’t know Sheikh Dr. Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaimi, then he is in his seventees and a teacher in the Prophets mosque and the University of Madinah and has much respect from the scholars of Ahlu Sunnah. May Allaah protect him. The Sheikh is also blind may Allaah grant him paradise for his efforts in calling to Allaah.

[Taken from my own notes from the fourth lesson of Sharh Akhlaaq al-Ulama by Imam Ajuree explained by Sheikh Dr. Saalih ibn Sa’d as-Suhaimi during the Madinah Conference, Saudi Arabia 1426/2006, 25th Jumada 1 1425, 20th June 2006.]

Question to Sheikh Ahmed Najmi taken from Sahab.net 1 rabee’1 1427 5 April 2006-04-05
Sheikh Ahmed Najmi may Allaah protect him was asked today after the Maghrib prayer (Saudi time) may Allaah protect it from the plots and plans of the people of corruption and the Khawaarij,

This is exactly what sheikh Muhammad Abdul Wahhab al-Banna said many years ago when I asked that some brothers are calling for the boycott of another Salafi due to the later having errors: He said Is this how we are Ya fulan? Rather advise the one who has erred and try to help him keep away from his mistakes and do not leave him unless you see that he turns away from the advice showing pride and arrogance.

Sheikh Ubaid ibn Abdillah al-Jaabiree has similar speech in his tape in the differentiation between treating Ahlus sunnah and Ahlul Bid’ah. Once he said and due to the lack of understanding of some who have not understood the affairs in this due to their lack of knowledge and not taking knowledge from the scholars is that if you try and help the one erred with advice you are accused of having compromised the fundamentals of this religion! And he said many times even if a scholar makes a mistake then we refute the mistake and the honour of the scholar is kept, likewise the honour of Ahlus Sunnah is kept and the mistake is refuted. As for Ahlul Bid’ah then there is no honour for them. However, there maybe times when ones has to use wisdom depending upon whether Ahlus Sunnah have strength or are the few etc.

Then he said there is a difference between compromising ones fundamentals and upholding advice seeking guidance for the people which is the way of the ahlul-ilm.

(end of what Sheikh Ubaid continues to express in how to deal with Ahlul Sunnah)
And how many times have we heard Sheikh Rabee’ calling the people to unite upon truth and to not rush to boycott one’s brothers without explaining to them the truth.

I remember when a brother complained to the Sheikh that a brother named Muhammad accuses him of not being Salafi and it just so happened that the accuser was in the dars that week on a Friday so the sheikh called him and said what is your proof that he is not Salafi?

Sheikh Muhammad ibn Haadi states that from the reasons of deviation is:

A chicken who heard a rooster shout
So he wanted to scream along with it.

He wanted to put himself in the midst of the scholars of guidance, the heads of the scholars of the Sunnah so he fell and tumbled backwards upon his heels. We ask Allaah for His protection and salvation.

This door (by which people deviate) is dangerous and many have fallen into deviation due to it. Those whom we know had entered this door so beware, beware from that and know that the scholars of the Sunnah will not tell you except what they have known from the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) and what they have experienced in reality from their practical life which they reached in authority and in striving against the people of desires and innovation. They have mentioned to you the outcome, so beware that you oppose them in this, for opposing them will just bring to you evil, and we seek refuge in Allaah from that.

By Allaah, they are considered to be most and they are mostrpious and most obedient to the legislation of the Messenger fearing for the Nation of Muhammad (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam).”

Amma-ba’d

Ahlus-Sunnah, the Salafiyyoon don’t just do Ta’aa, they do Ittiba’

Student ‘Abdul-Ilah Lahmami (hafidhahullaah) – while teaching Shaikh Rabee’s (hafidhahullaah) explanation of Usool-us-Sunnah of Imam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) – said:

“Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jama’ah, the Salafiyyoon don’t just do Ta’aa (obedience), they do Ittiba’ (imitating and precisely following the Messenger of Allaah, salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). The Sahaaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum) used to do Ittiba’, not just Ta’aa.

With so many of the misguided groups, you hardly find them doing Ta’aa (let alone Ittiba’). If they do Ta’aa, they will fall short in Ittiba’, in imitating the Messenger of Allaah, salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.

And one example is the example of ‘Ali (radiallaahu ‘anhu) in the journey (safar). When a person goes on a journey, there is a du’aa for safar. Before that, there is a du’aa (for) Rukub ad-Dabba (mounting upon a beast or) to go on board a transport. It’s a long du’aa that is mentioned in the book Saheeh Kalim at-Tayyib, that when the Messenger of Allaah would go on the transport, he would say: Bismillaah, Al-Hamdulillaah. Subhaanal-Ladhee sakhkhara lanaa haadhaa wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineen. Wa innaa ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon. Al-Hamdulillaah, Al-Hamdulillaah, Al-Hamdulillaah, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, subhaanak Allaahumma innee dhalamtu nafsee faghfir lee, fa-innahu laa yaghfirudh thunooba illaa Anta (In the Name of Allaah. All Praise is for Allaah. Free from any imperfection is He Who has provided this for us, and we could never have had it by our efforts. And verily unto our Lord we are returning. All Praise is for Allaah. All Praise is for Allaah. All Praise is for Allaah. Allaah is Greater. Allaah is Greater. Allaah is Greater. Free from any imperfection are You. Oh Allaah, I have wronged my own soul. Forgive me, for verily none forgives sins but You). [Abu Dawood 3/34, At-Tirmidhi 5/501; Al-Albaani, Saheeh At-Tirmidhi, 3/156]

He [‘Ali, radiallaahu ‘anhu] would mention this [du’aa] and then smile. And they said to ‘Ali, radiallaahu ‘anhu: “why do you smile after saying this (du’aa)?” He said: “I saw the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) smile [after saying this], so I smiled.”

Allaahu akbar!

He didn’t know why, but he just [did it out of Ittiba’]: “I saw the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) smile, so I smiled.” This is Ittiba’ (imitating and following the Prophet). The Sahaaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum) loved the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). They didn’t just obey (they followed with precision).

Nowadays, they are looking for rulings (or an excuse not to do it)… [Instead of asking], “did the Prophet do this?,” [they ask] “is it obligatory or mustahab (recommended)?”

Shaikh al-‘Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) said there is no harm in asking if you want to know the fiqh matter, but don’t ask to reject it, don’t ask to not do it, (saying) “it’s only mustahab (recommended). Khalas (that’s it [I’m not doing it]).” Or “it’s only makrooh (hated).” Ya akhee, you would do something Allaah hates?

We ask Allaah for safety.

So here ‘Ali (radiallaahu ‘anhu) said: I saw the Messenger of Allaah smile after saying this (du’aa for riding a beast or mounting a transport), so I smiled.

They (the sahaaba) went to the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and asked, “why did you smile after saying this?” He (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Because Allaah loves those who say it, because he (the slave) knows none can forgive except Him (Allaah). That’s why I smiled.”

[The above tremendous benefit – near the one-hour mark – followed ‘Abdul-Ilah relaying that the correct understanding is in adhering to the text (Qur`an and Sunnah), and in Ittiba’ (following the Messenger, salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and his companions and the rest of the Salaf) and leaving off desires.

And it preceded ‘Abdul-Ilah relaying: do not put your intellect before the Deen of Allaah.]

Note: None in this Ummah had a greater understanding of the Religion or a better implementation of the Religion than the Sahaaba, who preserved and relayed the entire Religion – by Allaah’s Permission and Success. The Sahaaba (radiallaahu ‘anhum ajma’een) preserved and relayed every Ayah and every Hadeeth and every command and every prohibition and everyone was so keen and diligent in preserving and following the Prophet’s Sunnah that he memorized the Prophet’s footsteps to the masjid and would follow them en route to the masjid. And examples such as this from the Sahaaba are in abundance. May Allaah be pleased with all of them.

As ‘Abdul-Ilah also mentioned, the solution to every dispute is to return to the Qur`an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Sahabaa, emphasizing upon the understanding of the Sahabaa.

May Allaah reward Maher Atiyah almaqdasi for transcribing this.
