All the praise is due to Allaah, who sent His Messenger Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) with the guidance and the religion of Truth, and may Allaah’s peace and blessings be upon Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), his family, his companions and those who follow them till the Last Day. To proceed:

Markaz Mu’aadh bin Jabal was set up in October 2001 in the town of Slough (South East England) with the intention of establishing an Islamic da’wah centre and a masjid upon ikhlaas and sunnah. The primary goal of the markaz was (and still is) to call people to the religion of tawheed, upon the understanding of the Companions of Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alaiyhi wasalam), educating the local community as well as building wider community relationships.

Current Activities

Since 2001 the Markaz has made significant progress in terms of its activities, and all the praise is due to Allaah. Some of the activities that are currently taking place are as follows:

  • Establishment of 5 daily prayers including Jumu’ah prayers
  • Establishment of Eid prayers
  • Arabic reference Library with over 300 books on ‘aqeedah, fiqh, hadeeth, etc.
  • Audio-store
  • Islamic advice centre for Muslims and non-Muslims
  • Islamic school – teaching Qur’an/Tajweed and The Basics of Islam and Fiqh
  • Lectures and tele-link with scholars (including Conferences)
  • Adult courses in Arabic and Tajweed
  • Islamic courses in English covering lessons and lectures of the scholars
  • Islamic Web-site (

Future Aspirations

  • Currently 250+ people attending Jumu’ah prayers each week, and due to shortage of space we have closed off women’s section for the Friday prayers only. We would like to accommodate both men and women for the Friday prayers, but to do that we require larger premises.
  • We would like to expand the library, but this is currently restricted due to space.
  • Eid prayers are attended by 1500 – 2000 people every year. At times when the Eid prayer is held in doors (due to bad weather) we are unable to comfortably accommodate all the people under one roof due to shortage of space. Again, to change this we require larger premises.
  • Our Islamic school is in dire need of expansion as we have many students currently on a waiting list. We would like to expand this facility to double the number of students insha’Allah (currently we have approx 70 boys and 70 girls).
  • We would like to hire a full-time imam and a care taker for the masjid insha’Allah.
  • We have recently hired additional teachers for our Fahm Us Salaf School but we are always in need of more, especially female teachers.
  • We have taken the initial steps in setting up a nursery for young children which we hope will go on to become a reception and then a primary school in the years to follow insha’Allah.
